- MOKOKCHUNG — Akashvani,
India's national public service broadcaster continues to play a pivotal role in
reaching the masses through its extensive multilingual programming, a feat
unmatched even by television channels, stated Ashish Bhatnagar, additional
director general (ADG) (A, BO and CO) of North East Zone (NEZ), Guwahati.
- Bhatnagar made these remarks during his visit to Akashvani
Mokokchung, where a special programme was hosted at Whispering Winds on March 1
in his honour. He was accompanied by other officials including Abino Lasuh, A/D
HOP Kohima; Bhaskar Jyoti Gogoi, PEX; Iddong Pertin, HOP Pasighat; Dalimi
Morang, HOP Tizu; Temsula Yimchunger, PEX Kohima; Lemjan Phom, PEX Pasighat;
and Chintra Mein, TREX Guwahati.
- Highlighting Akashvani's unique position in Northeast India,
Bhatnagar emphasised, "We are the medium that reaches the maximum number
of people in their languages and dialects." He noted that Akashvani is the
only broadcaster airing programmes in 90 languages and dialects with Akashvani
Kohima and Imphal being pioneers in this field.
- "We are the voice of the prime minister, government and
common people. Akashvani serves as a bridge connecting citizens with the
nation's leadership," Bhatnagar said.
- He underscored the broadcaster's role in disseminating
government policies, promoting transparency and fostering public discourse.
Encouraging greater collaboration between government departments and Akashvani,
he urged officials to utilise the platform for effective communication of their
initiatives.
- Bhatnagar also stressed that it is Akashvani’s duty to
ensure that every government scheme and programme is properly implemented.
- "Akashvani has the right and duty to conduct a social
audit, assessing what is truly happening on the ground," he asserted.
- Expressing admiration for the cultural richness and talent
of Northeast India, Bhatnagar said, "The traditions of Mokokchung and the
Northeast, with their deep respect for women and the environment, offer
valuable lessons for the world. The sun rises from the east and so does wisdom
and talent."
