DIMAPUR — An essay writing competition, a health camp, and a Hindi film song competition were organised by Akashvani Kohima on September 26 to commemorate the 90th anniversary of radio broadcasting in India, promote health awareness, and conclude the Hindi Pakhwada celebration.


According to a press release, the essay writing competition was held at PM Shri School Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kohima.


It was specifically tailored for students from Class 9 to Class 12, with a total of 30 students participating. The competition encouraged students to reflect on the role of radio in India’s past, present, and future while commemorating 90 years of radio broadcasting.


The health camp was conducted under the nationwide initiative "Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan" at the Akashvani Kohima premises in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Kohima district.

A team of 26 medical personnel provided services to 59 staff members and their families. The camp included consultations and screenings for anaemia, non-communicable diseases (NCD), tuberculosis (TB), HIV, and Hepatitis B.


The Hindi film song competition, organised as the valedictory function of Hindi Pakhwada 2025, took place at the Akashvani Kohima office premises.


Staff from Akashvani Kohima and representatives from the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC) Nagaland participated. The programme began with a welcome address from Ella Kayina, head of programmes, and concluded with the felicitation of winners.


The winner of the Hindi film song competition was DG Long of the 45 Assam Rifles, followed by Prakash Sinha of the Office of Postal Services in Kohima and Dhanpal of the 105 Bn BSF.
