AITA tournament: Haobam clinches men’s singles title

IMPHAL — The All India Tennis Association (AITA) One Lakh Men’s Tennis Tournament 2023, which commenced on November 20, concluded on Friday at the Imphal District Tennis Association (IDTA) Complex, Lamphelpat.

Thirty two players from across the country participated in the tournament organised by IDTA, under the aegis of Manipur Tennis Association.

Manipur’s Chief Secretary Vineet Joshi, president of IDTA H Balkrisna Singh and other office bearers of association were present during the closing function.

In his address, the chief secretary said that Manipur is the power house of sports and that the boys and girls of the state have earned laurels both in the national and international levels.

Bushan Haobam of Manipur clinched the men’s singles title while Ashwarjit Senjam was declared runner-up. In the men’s doubles, Bushan Haobam and H Shanker clinched the winners’ trophy while T Brojen and S Bickey were placed runners-up.

The certificates and trophies were distributed to the winners and runners-up of the tournament by the chief secretary. The prize money of the tournament was contributed by parents of Manipur tennis players and members of IDTA.
