Air pollution awareness prog. held in Dimapur

Dimapur, Feb. 17 (EMN): The Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) conducted an awareness programme on air pollution at Vidhya Bhawan Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur on February 15 with scientist Akangmeren Imchen and senior scientific assistant Yanathung Kithan as resource persons.

An update from the school informed that the resource persons brought to light the scenario of air pollution, particularly in Dimapur and Kohima, and illustrated its causes and effects.    

It informed that entire team from NPCB, teachers and students participated in the ‘awareness walk’ on air pollution that was held before the awareness workshop began. Plantation drive was conducted at the school campus and saplings were distributed to all the schools. A signature campaign was also carried out to plant trees and keep environment green.

The programme was attended by the head of institution, teachers and students of New Horizon School, G Mhiasiu School, Community Education Centre, Vidhya Bhawan Hr. Sec. School and also scientific assistants and IT officer from the NPCB, the update informed, adding that around 1100 students and teachers attended the programme.
