Dimapur, Dec. 9: AIR Kohima: All India Radio Kohima (AIR) celebrated advent Christmas at its Studio Complex with former station director and retired deputy director general of AIR and DDK, Northeast, V. Sekhose as chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, V. Sekhose said, Christmas is not just a mere festival like any other festival but a time to celebrate the Lord and a festival of love and peace. She also said all rituals and rites are bare when Christ is not there and therefore called upon everyone to placed Christ first during Christmas.
While sharing the warmth of Christmas, Sekhose reminded the staff of AIR that the greatest objective of the establishment is to give public quality service broadcast. She said AIR and DDK were the most popular media among the electronic media, owing to its credibility and authenticity, and added that the two broadcasters were among the first media institutions in the region to provide information to the people, which they relied on even today.
Sekhose said AIR Kohima was the first radio station in the country to broadcast Christmas massages and dramas, which got feedbacks from as far as Finland. The programme was first broadcast in English and gradually in the dialect bulletins. She said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has popularized radio more through the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme, in which he reached out to the people.
Further, she called upon the staff to continue to work with dedication, truth and sincerity for the service of the people.
Director engineer, K.K Rangma, said the current year has been a busy and challenging one, with repeat transformation of the entire establishment to a digital platform.
Highlights of the programme included Christmas song presentation by the different sections of the station.

DPRO Dimapur, Lolano Patton while exhorting the gathering said that the most valuable Christmas gift given by Almighty to mankind was His one and only son Jesus Christ. God has portrayed His unconditional love to each one by gifting His son to us and therefore we must value and acknowledge the love of God by living a life which is acceptable to Him, she maintained.
Loretha who also shared on the occasion, said that we have various compartments in our heart which we keep for family, friends, neighbours, siblings etc. and questioned whether we have kept a room for Jesus in our hearts. She called upon the gathering to celebrate 2016 Christmas with a difference by giving room in their heart to Jesus and with renewed and revived heart so that the blessings of Christmas are upon them.
Mary read the scripture, while Asemo invoked God’s blessings. The programme was chaired by Kopotso and benediction by Nikhili.
