AIDA Dimapur organises a career guidance session for competitive exam aspirants, featuring experts from the National Career Service Centre and academia.

DIMAPUR — The ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA), through its Don Bosco Job Placement Network, organised a competitive exam career guidance session at AIDA, Dimapur, on February 20.
According to an update, the programme was designed for young aspirants seeking clarity, direction, and practical strategies to pursue careers through competitive examinations.
The session aimed to guide, motivate, and equip participants with insights into major competitive examinations such as the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), and the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC).
The programme commenced with an inaugural address by Dr. Roy George SDB, Executive Director of AIDA, Dimapur, who highlighted the vision and initiatives of AIDA, particularly the AIDA Don Bosco Competitive Examination Self Study Centre, established to support and empower the youth of Dimapur.
The resource persons for the event were Cheenu Singh, a rehabilitation counsellor associated with the Ministry of Labour and Employment and the Directorate General of Employment through the National Career Service Centre, and Dr. AJ Sebastian SDB, a retired professor and former head of the Department of English at Nagaland University.
Singh initiated the technical session with an overview of the competitive examination landscape in India. She elaborated on examinations such as UPSC, SSC, JEE, NEET, and NPSC, explaining their stages, cut-off marks, preparation methods, and common challenges.
Drawing from her personal experience of clearing the SSC examination, she offered practical guidance and encouragement to the aspirants. She also emphasised learning from failures and treating setbacks as stepping stones to success.
This was followed by a session by Dr. AJ Sebastian SDB, who focused on effective preparation methodologies, strategic planning, disciplined time management, and the importance of self-study. He emphasised building self-confidence and consistency and extended his personal counselling support to individuals preparing for competitive examinations.
He elaborated on key insights from his student guidebook, “Groom to Bloom”, emphasising the significance of memory enhancement techniques and a holistic approach to personal and academic growth.
During the interactive question-and-answer session, the resource persons stressed the importance of developing regular reading habits, staying updated with current affairs, practising online MCQ tests, and referring to standard newspapers and magazines as part of daily preparation.
During the vote of thanks, Sebi Chacko, programme coordinator and AIDA–JPN project coordinator, highlighted the facilities and services of the AIDA Competitive Examination Self Study Centre, Dimapur, noting that the library is open to all competitive exam aspirants and provides a wide range of resources.
