Pranav Shagotra calls for transparency in electoral roll revision and protection of eligible voters' rights in Zunheboto.

DIMAPUR — Pranav Shagotra, AICC Observer has called for transparency and accountability in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, stressing the need to ensure that no eligible voter is unfairly excluded from the democratic process.
Shagotra was addressing a consultative meeting on October 29 in Zunheboto led by Yanchamo Ovung, general secretary of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), and Vikato Zhimo, president of the Zunheboto District Congress Committee (DCC).
The meeting was attended by senior Congress leaders, party officials and workers, the NPCC stated in a press release.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the SIR process and the importance of safeguarding the democratic and constitutional rights of every eligible voter.
Participants underscored the need for transparency, accountability and proper verification during the revision of electoral rolls to prevent the exclusion of genuine voters.
Shagotra also highlighted the campaign led by Rahul Gandhi against alleged “Vote Chori”, raising concerns over electoral transparency and the functioning of the Election Commission of India under Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
He emphasised that protecting the integrity of elections was essential to maintaining public confidence in democratic institutions.
He stressed that every eligible citizen must be able to exercise their constitutional right to vote without fear, discrimination or unnecessary obstacles.
He also called on Congress leaders and party workers to remain vigilant throughout the SIR process, create public awareness and assist eligible voters in ensuring that their names remain on the electoral rolls.
Shagotra further appealed to the people of Nagaland, civil society members and all those committed to democratic values to join Rahul Gandhi at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on November 1 as part of the broader campaign to protect voting rights, demand electoral accountability and strengthen democracy.
The meeting reaffirmed the Nagaland Congress's commitment to the “Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao” campaign and its efforts to ensure that every eligible citizen's voice is heard and their right to vote is protected.
