Shillong, Nov. 17 (EMN): All India Congress Committee (Minority Department) observer for Meghalaya, Nagaland and Mizoram Rejaul Karim Laskar came for a one day visit to Shillong on Nov. 17 Fri.
A press release mentions that the observer paid visit to Shillong Baptist Church and met Rev. L M Vanchhawng, the Pastor of the church at his residence.
Laskar and Rev. Vanchhawng is said to have had a very cordial discussion on important issues.
Laskar observed that Northeast India is a colourful mosaic of different races, cultures and faiths and that this diversity is the beauty of the region.
Laskar appreciated the role of the Baptist church in strengthening peace and social harmony in Meghalaya. He also appreciated the cordial relations that exists between every sections of the society in Meghalaya, stated the release.
Laskar also visited the Cathedral Mary Help of Christians in Shillong.
The release further mentions that Laskar met Chief Minister Mukul Sangma at the his residence wherein both the leaders detailed on fruitful discussions regarding the campaign strategy of the party for the 2018 elections in the state and the role of the minority department in the campaign. Laskar is said to have left for Guwahati on Nov. 17 evening.
