- DIMAPUR — A group
of 24 students from FGI College of Agricultural Sciences, Henbung, from
Kangpokpi district of Manipur, accompanied by 2 faculty members visited the
School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University (SAS, NU), Medziphema
campus, on February 24.
- An update from SAS, NU stated that the students explored
various specialised project units and departments within the institution. They
also visited the Entomology Insect Museum, where they learned about the diverse
world of insects as well as the Plant Pathology Disease Museum, which provided
insights into plant diseases.
- The students had an opportunity to engage with the technical
staff at the STINER-TFC, where they observed demonstrations on banana fiber
extraction and the production of value-added products. They were briefed on
several innovative technologies related to the project.
- To further enhance their educational experience, the
students visited the All India Coordinated Research Project on Honeybee
Pollinators, where they acquired knowledge about the scientific methods of
rearing honeybees, role of various pollinators in sustainable agriculture and
observed the honey processing methods.
- The visit included an interactive learning session that
deepened their understanding and appreciation for the innovative research and
methodologies being pursued in the agricultural sector. It stated that faculty
members and technical staff provided detailed briefings on the various
departments involved in the programme.
- The visit was coordinated by Dr. Rokozeno, guest faculty of
Entomology, and Dr. Tsarila ZT Sangtam, guest faculty of Livestock Production
and Management.
