The department of Agriculture welcomed its new minister for Agriculture, Dr N Benjongliba Aier, on June 9 in the minister’s official chamber in Kohima.
Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Nagaland Imkonglemba expressed appreciation and happiness at Aier’s attainment of the ministerial berth. He also said that having the minister in the Agriculture department “has been a dream fulfilled.”
Secretary for Agriculture Benjamin Newmai spoke on behalf of the secretariat. He expressed happiness that the Agriculture department has “resumed its original position and the people of Nagaland depending on agriculture would be benefited.” He assured that “all are confident and happy to work and cooperate and remain to work as one family.”
Director of Agriculture Tekatushi Ao congratulated the minister for his achievement, and said he was most qualified in this department. “We hope under his leadership the Department will strengthened, progress in all round development in the state for the benefit of the farming community as well as in general,” Ao said.
Dr. Aier, spoke briefly. He said agriculture was the mainstay not only for the people of the state but for the country’s population. The present government’s agenda for a ‘second green revolution’ is to uplift the economy and the farming community as well as give impetus to production and productivity, he said. The department should work hand in hand with new agricultural policy, he said.
