Aggrieved landowners raise concerns over survey discrepancies along National Highway-29 stretch from Purana Bazaar to Chümoukedima.

DIMAPUR — A meeting of the aggrieved landowners affected along the stretch of National Highway-29 from Purana Bazaar to Chümoukedima was held on May 2 at Hotel Saramati conference hall, Dimapur.
According to an update, the meeting deliberated extensively on the discrepancies observed in the land survey process, particularly concerning the assessment and classification of land, which has resulted in the rejection of compensation claims for a majority of affected landowners.
Participants expressed serious concern over inconsistencies in survey records and the lack of transparency in the evaluation process.
After thorough discussion, the house unanimously resolved to come together as a unified body to pursue their legitimate claims.

It was agreed to formally apprise the government and the concerned authorities to urgently look into the genuine grievances of the affected landowners and to ensure a fair, transparent and just resolution.
The meeting also approved the appointment of K Samuel as coordinator, Kheto R Zhimomi as press & media secretary, and Chubakumla Ao as assistant press & record secretary, to coordinate and represent the interests of the aggrieved landowners.
Further, to ensure inclusive and effective representation, tribe representatives were appointed, including Mutsitso Kezo (Chakhesang), T Sepipa (Sangtam), Khrietuo Yoshu (Angami), Sashi Longchar (Ao), and Tonizhe Yeptho (Sümi).
“The gathering concluded with a strong collective commitment to pursue their cause unitedly and through lawful and constructive means, seeking justice and rightful compensation for all affected landowners,” the update stated.
