After 15 months, stolen govt vehicle recovered

Staff Reporter DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 12 AFTER a high octane chase on National Highway 29, the Dimapur police on Wednesday afternoon managed to recover a state government vehicle that was stolen in May last year. The vehicle, a Mahindra Bolero bearing registration NL-10-7032, had been provided to the Additional Director of Food and Civil Supplies. It was reported stolen from outside Puma showroom in Church Road, Dimapur last year. Police sources said that the chase on Wednesday had started from Blue Hill station and continued till “Chumukedima area.” With a Manipur registration number, the vehicle while driving along the Blue Hill station had raised “suspicion” among the police patrol on duty. One person, identified as 23-year-old Asen Tangkhul of Changte village in Ukhrul, Manipur, was arrested. He was driving the stolen car, police said. A case has been registered at East Police station.
