Centre extends AFSPA across nine Nagaland districts and 27 police-station areas for another six months from October 1
DIMAPUR — The Centre has extended the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) in nine districts of Nagaland and in areas under 27 police stations across five other districts for another six months, from October 1.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), in a notification issued on September 24, declared the areas “disturbed” under Section 3 of the AFSPA, 1958, with the order remaining in force until March 31, 2027, unless withdrawn earlier.
The districts where AFSPA continues in full are Dimapur, Niuland, Chümoukedima, Mon, Kiphire, Noklak, Phek, Peren and Meluri.
In addition, AFSPA will continue in areas falling under five police stations in Kohima district: Khuzama, Kohima North, Kohima South, Zubza and Kezocha.
In Mokokchung district, the order covers Mangkolemba, Mokokchung-I, Longtho, Tuli, Longchem and Anaki ‘C’ police stations.
Yanglok police station in Longleng district is also covered.
In Wokha district, the designated areas fall under Bhandari, Champang and Ralan police stations, while in Zunheboto district the order covers Ghatashi, Pughoboto, Satakha, Suruhoto, Zunheboto and Aghunato police stations.
