Dimapur, April 17 (EMN): Taking an initiative towards preserving environment, the troops of Assam Rifle in collaboration with Kuki Students’ Organisation Nagaland (KSON) organised afforestation drive with the students of Christian School, Athibung on April 12.
At the outset, impact of deforestation on environment was highlighted to the students followed by tree plantation.
Total of 100 trees were planted by the students and AR troops. School students were also appealed to contribute towards the drive by nurturing and watering the trees.The troops of Assam Rifle and student leaders assured their aggressive approach towards afforestation drive to achieve its mission of ‘greener Ahthibung’. The members of Assam Rifle and KSON while addressing the gathering mentioned that afforestation drive would continue till the end of monsoon season and informed that the joint team aims at planting more trees at Ahthibung and surrounding villages.
It was also informed that the plan of afforestation has been conceived which would incorporate other schools and organizations in town with the aim to not only plant trees but to spread awareness among the youth and adults about the negative impact of deforestation on our environment.
