Dimapur, March 9 (EMN): All offices, departments and organisations in Kohima affected by fire on February 2 night will be accommodate at the Capital Convention Centre (CCC). Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar informed that State Urban Department, Planning Department and other line departments are working in coordination to accommodate the affected offices at the earliest.
Addressing members of the affected departments and organisations in a joint meeting on March 8 at the Secretariat conference hall, Kohima, Chief Secretary requested all the offices, departments and organisations to get accommodated for normal functioning of office at the earliest in order to deliver services to the citizens. State Commissioner and the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, are also working in coordination to accommodate various departments, a DIPR report quoting the Chief Secretary said.
The Chief Secretary informed that the objective of the meeting was to take stock of the situation for the offices that have suffered damage during the incident. He expressed concern over the issue and lamented on the extent of damages incurred in the incident.
The Chief Secretary also informed about the government’s proposal to sanction some funds to help them adding emergency measures were being taken up by the State government. He said there is requirement of fund for the offices to allow functioning again.
In this regard, he said the State Finance Department has earmarked some amount of fund to meet the most urgent requirement for the affected offices so as to allow them to function early. The affected offices, departments and organisations shared their problems faced by them. It was informed that all affected offices were in the process of shifting some to the Directorates, while some to some suitable place or house on rent basis until things are sorted out and some are still in the process of finalisation.
Departments which were made functional included Kohima Municipal Council (KMC), Nagaland State Legal Service Authority (NSLSA), Assistant General Manager and Nagaland State Transport (NST), Kohima.
Earlier, the Home Commissioner, Abhijit Sinha highlighted about the important agenda to be discussed during the meeting. Stating that the issue pertained to shifting and accommodating of offices, he said the issued should be solved amicably among all concerned departments including all Directorates.
