Dimapur, Nov. 21 (EMN): Identifying Tuberculosis as the main killer of people living with HIV/Aids and the urgent need for the PLHIV (people living with HIV) community, the ARK Foundation partnered with KNP+ to conducted an advocacy driven workshop on with the board, staff and members of the PLHIV Network of KNP+. The resource persons of the workshop was Ketho and Renbonthung. They lamented on the sorry state of affairs of the TB program in the state.
The resource persons said that that the state’s RNTCP programme ‘has not been sensitised on the importance of consulting and partnering with the infected and affected and the NGOs working in the field of health and that there is a massive need for such synergy to happen if the program is serious enough to end TB by 2025 as per the national goal’. India has the third largest HIV epidemic in the world, with 2.1 million people living with HIV.
