
ZUNHEBOTO — Advisor for School Education and State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome is currently on a two-day official visit to Zunheboto district.
On the first day, Dr. Yhome visited Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Aghunato, Government Middle School (GMS) Aghiyilimi, GHS Tizu Island and Government Primary School (GPS), Akeakhu.

At GHSS Aghunato, he interacted with the teachers and students and told the students that education is the only way to liberate oneself. He urged the teachers to make the best use of the facilities and added that the government is trying its best to bring about change in the system.
At GMS Aghiyilimi, the village leaders and the school management committee raised the issue of non-availability of teachers at the school due to transfer and redeployment of teachers, which resulted in non-functioning of the school.
Meanwhile, Director of School Education, Wonthungo Tsopoe, pointed out the need to bring back old teachers who were earlier posted in the school.
He expressed concern over the prevailing situation in the state where many wants Government jobs but are unwilling to work.
The director also urged the SMC to be proactive as the school being a‘communitised school.’ Tsopoe also assured to deploy teachers within a week’s time.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Deputy Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha, Kelhikha Kenye, also sought community support and contribution towards the school and highlighted the significance of communitisation in education.
Yhome meanwhile assured to deploy the required strength of teachers for the school. He also asked the villagers to bring their children to get enrolled in the school stating that government school teachers are well trained and asked the parents to trust the government schools.
The advisor also requested the village to support and extend cooperation to the teachers in terms of basic needs and accommodations.
Further, Yhome also stressed one the need to send both boys and girls to receive education equally.
Later in the evening, the entourage reached GHS Tizu Island and GPS Akeakhu and after visiting the schools, they interacted with the leaders of the villages.
During the interaction, village leaders raised their concerns and issues faced by the schools of the villages.
Tsopoe also assured to deploy school teachers for the school while he also stressed on the need for the villages and the department to work in tandem.
Meanwhile, Yhome said that the School Education department is the second biggest department, next to the police department, in the state with over 1900 schools.
He also pointed out Zunheboto district is lagging behind the “state indicators” and stressed on the need to address the same.
The advisor asked the society to care for the welfare of the teachers in order to enable them to value their works and help the people. He further sought public cooperation and stressed on the need for increased enrollment in government schools.
