Z Nyusietho Nyuthe urges the Pochury community to preserve unity, language and identity and responsibly use natural resources.

DIMAPUR — Advisor to NSDMA and Inland Waterways Z Nyusietho Nyuthe has called upon the Pochury community to remain united, preserve its cultural and linguistic identity, and responsibly utilise the region’s natural resources for the development of the district.
Addressing the Pochury tribal festival Yemshe at Lephori village in Meluri district on October 3, Nyuthe described Yemshe as the biggest festival of the Pochury Naga community and said it was an occasion to strengthen unity, relationships and the community’s collective identity.
He said the festival was a time for the Pochury people to earnestly pray to God for abundant blessings, while also providing an opportunity for introspection, forgiveness and reconciliation, an update stated.
He urged the people to reflect on their actions, forgive one another and amend their ways for the common good, stating that without such introspection, the purpose of life and living would lose its meaning.
Speaking on the diversity of the Pochury community, Nyuthe described Pochury as a “land of diversity”, with differences in various aspects, but noted that the people had nevertheless remained united.
He said this unity represented the community’s collective identity and should be preserved and strengthened.
He also described Pochury area as the “land of fortunes”, saying the region was blessed with abundant minerals and natural resources.
Calling the Pochury a God-gifted tribe, he urged the people to work diligently and make proper and responsible use of the available resources for the development of the district.
Emphasising the importance of preserving Pochury identity, Nyuthe particularly urged the younger generation to learn and develop the Pochury dialect and language.
He said language was an important component of the community’s identity and called for collective efforts to preserve and develop it.
The advisor also appreciated Pochury gazetted officers for their sincerity and dedication in discharging their duties.
He noted that no complaints had been received against them and commended their exemplary conduct in public service, urging them to continue rendering their best service wherever they were posted or assigned.
He concluded by calling upon the Pochury people to uphold unity, preserve their cultural and linguistic identity, responsibly utilise their natural resources and work collectively towards the progress and development of the community.
