Pfütsero — Advisor of CAWD and Taxes and chairman of Phek District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Kudecho Khamo, on Monday called upon each government department in Phek district to establish a model or iconic project to elevate and empower the people.
The advisor was addressing the monthly Phek DPDB meeting held at the conference hall of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Pfütsero, under Phek district.
Khamo explained that each department should take up an iconic project through their intervention to encourage the progressive and hardworking farmers and entrepreneurs in the district.
While appreciating the cleanliness drive carried out in the towns of Phek district, he emphasised the importance of cleanliness and appealed for a movement throughout the district.
He directed the district administration to issue an order for cleanliness drives throughout Phek district in towns and villages to be conducted on the first Saturday of every month. He announced that awards will be given to the cleanest towns and villages.
Highlighting the prevalence of high unemployment in the state, he urged all those in leadership positions to guide society and the people, asserting that Nagas still have a very bright future beyond government jobs.
He added that Nagas can still do better without being in government service. He then pointed out the importance of prayer, hard work, and honesty.

Khamo also stressed the importance of Viksit Nagaland in line with the Government of India’s call for Viksit Bharat and called for collective efforts from government officials and all other stakeholders.
He emphasised the importance of having a good number of members present during the meeting and urged them to continue being more sincere, committed, and dedicated so that together, as a team, the board will be able to deliver results and fulfil the aspirations of the people.
Stating that the government has introduced many schemes, policies, and welfare programmes for the people, he went on to state that there are people at the grassroots who are truly deserving and sincere.
In order to reach out to them, the responsibility lies in the hands of those at the helm of affairs—through political decisions, as well as administrative and bureaucratic efforts—to deliver good to the people, the advisor said.
Reiterating the war against tobacco, drugs, and alcohol, Khamo dwelled on their harmful effects and the toll they take on society.
He called for collective efforts while appreciating the district administration for taking prompt action in imposing a tobacco-free area in the DPDB meeting venue.
Khamo also felicitated and commended Padma Shri Sano Vamuzo, who was recently awarded the Baptist World Alliance (BWA) 2025 Congress Quinquennial Human Rights Award.

He also emphasised the importance of the cleanliness drive being carried out by the district administration and called for it to be taken up with seriousness. He urged focus on proper drainage, reducing plastic waste, and sensitisation regarding septic waste, which poses health hazards.
DC Phek, Rhosietho Nguori, chaired the meeting and also welcomed the new members.
