PFUTSERO — Asserting that the world is undergoing rapid transformation, Advisor for Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD) and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo on Saturday underscored the need for hard work, adaptability and a holistic approach to education to equip students for future challenges.
The advisor was addressing the inauguration programme of the newly upgraded Government High School (GHS) Rukizu at Pfutsero.
Observing changes in Naga society and governance, Khamo said education must go beyond the pursuit of government jobs. He encouraged students to remain faithful to their values, explore diverse professions and strive to become employers rather than mere employees, thereby contributing to societal progress.
The advisor asserted that an educational institution must not only impart knowledge but also enlighten young minds to become leaders and professionals who contribute meaningfully to society. He appreciated the community's active participation and concerted efforts in realising the school's upgrade.

“In this competitive world, there is no space for lazy people, whether in government service or the business sector where competition is intense,” he said.
He added that banks and financial institutions are willing to support honest and promising entrepreneurs, and that government schemes are intended for those who demonstrate genuine commitment and sustainable outcomes.
Encouraging the Chakhesang community and residents of Pfutsero to embrace changing dynamics, he called for preparing the younger generation to adapt and succeed in a rapidly evolving environment.
Pointing out that dependence on a lone government-aided high school at Pfutsero had posed challenges for students and parents seeking admission, he said the upgrade of GHS Rukizu would ease admission pressure and cater not only to the needs of Rukizu locality but also to students across Phek district.
In this regard, Khamo acknowledged Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who heads the State Level Education Committee (SLEC) as the chairman, and Advisor for School Education and SCERT Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, along with other officials for upgrading the school from Government Middle School to Government High School.
Highlighting the importance of Pfutsero, Khamo said the town has emerged as a centre for the Chakhesang community, although the administrative headquarters is located at Phek town. He noted that Pfutsero has developed into an educational hub and commercial centre, and also houses the Mission Centre of the Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC).
Furthermore, Khamo placed on record his appreciation for the landowners who donated land for the school, terming their sacrifice visionary and beneficial for posterity. He stated that the government would consider providing employment opportunities to landowners if scope permits.
On the occasion, speeches were delivered by Razouseyi Vese, Director of School Education, and P Lohe Chachei, Sub-Divisional Education Officer (SDEO), Pfutsero.
The programme was chaired by Nuvezo Kotso, councillor, Pfutsero Town Council (PTC). Velakho Sakhamo, teacher-in-charge of GHS Rukizu, delivered the welcome address, while the women department of Rukizu Baptist Church presented a special song.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Vekusu Chuzho, chairman, SMDC GHS Rukizu. The dedicatory prayer was offered by Avi Zholia, associate pastor, Rukizu Baptist Church.
