- MOKOKCHUNG — Advisor
for Information & Public Relations (IPR) and Soil & Water Conservation,
Imkong L Imchen, on Saturday underscored the need for harmonious collaboration
between the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and Bharatiya
Janata Party (BJP) to ensure the success of Nagaland’s coalition government,
calling BJP a “dependable political party ally of NDPP.”
- Speaking on the sidelines of a virtual inauguration of
District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) offices in Longleng and Zunheboto and
an Assistant Public Relations Officer (APRO) office in Pungro, held at the DPRO
office in Mokokchung, Imchen highlighted the coalition’s critical role in state
governance.
- “We are running a coalition government led by NDPP-BJP
partnership for the second tenure,” Imchen said, adding, “The politics of
coalition and contemporary politics have come to stay; therefore, in our local
geopolitics, it is the responsibility of the two parties to live in the
harmonious relationship we cultivated to reach political action.”

- He cited the successful Tiranga Yatra on May 31 in
Mokokchung, jointly organised by NDPP and BJP, as a testament to their
coordinated strength.
- During the virtual inauguration, Imchen addressed
bureaucratic delays hampering departmental projects, stating, “Schemes and
projects face many bureaucratic obstacles down the line of processing and
formalities, which takes time to complete and often compromises quality.”
- The advisor assured that he would not compromise on the
quality of the work, directing the district officers and contractors to
complete pending projects within this financial year to avoid market price
escalation burdening the state exchequer.
- Imchen expressed regret that the inauguration was held
virtually due to his directive to organise the Tiranga Yatra, preventing
on-site interaction with district officers. “The programme was planned for
formal inauguration to take stock of department activities, but due to
unavoidable circumstances, it has been made virtual,” he said.
- IPR Director Dzuvinuo Theunuo highlighted the department’s
role amid information overload, warning of misinformation risks on social
media.

- “During crises like pandemics, people look for verified news
from the government, and district offices in remote areas become crucial,” she
said.
- Describing IPR as a “driving force” for the government, she
instructed officers to remain proactive, stating, “Holidays are not our thing;
officers must be always online for district administration.”
- She added that manpower deployment is underway to streamline
officer placements across districts.
