KOHIMA — Advisor of Land Resources, G Ikuto Zhimomi, has called upon the youth to venture into entrepreneurship and create job opportunities for unemployed youth in the state.
He was addressing the gathering during the inauguration of Nagaland Coffee Shop on Saturday in Kohima. Zhimomi emphasised the importance of self-employment, citing the need to follow the examples set by young entrepreneurs for finding employment opportunities.
Congratulating Vivito Yeptho, co-founder and managing director of Nagaland Coffee Shop and his team for the new cafe in Kohima, the advisor praised the dedication to promoting coffee culture.
He has stressed the importance of nurturing more entrepreneurs in Nagaland as they could play a vital role in providing employment opportunities and contributing to the region's economic growth.
"It's easy to dream a dream, but hard work and determination are essential to turn that dream into a reality," Zhimomi said.
The advisor emphasised that empowering young individuals with education and self-reliance is crucial in the current scenario. He also mentioned about the CM's Microfinance initiative toward supporting the youth in self-employment.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Zhimomi said that the government's plans for a huge coffee plantation in Nagaland would bring hope for the prosperity of coffee in the state. He expressed optimism about employment opportunities in the coffee industry while taking note that there are about 70,000 registered unemployed youth in Nagaland.
Zhimomi emphasised that empowering young individuals with education and self-reliance is crucial in the current scenario.
“Opening another coffee outlet in the state capital could serve as an eye-opener for the young and educated unemployed youth,” said Albert Ngullie, director of Land Resources.
The official opined that it would be more rewarding to become one's own boss by venturing into a business that allows personal expansion and creativity rather than working under someone.
"There is no better achievement than starting a successful business of your own," Ngullie said.
Ngullie shared that they are actively scouting for talented coffee entrepreneurs to represent Nagaland in the prestigious 5th World Coffee Conference scheduled to take place in Bangalore this year.
He has provided valuable information about the vast potential for coffee cultivation in Nagaland with approximately 10,00,000 hectares of land suitable for growing coffee.
While they have set their sights on developing 50,000 hectares for coffee plantation, he announced that they have already accomplished 20,000 hectares of coffee plantation with a further 60% yet to be achieved.
Vivito Yeptho announced that the opening of a new cafe in Kohima was an extension of their outlet in Dimapur. He expressed hope that coffee enthusiasts in Kohima would come and experience the taste of the beverage locally grown in Nagaland.
