DIMAPUR — As the Season of Advent begins, the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) has called upon Nagas to reclaim hope, responsibility and common belonging, urging a renewed commitment to dialogue through the traditional ‘machang’ as a shared space for reconciliation.
In an Advent reflection issued on Sunday, the FNR reminded that the season is not merely about waiting but about active hope, reminding communities that faith must translate into responsible action for the long-term future of the Naga people.
It cautioned against growing fragmentation, internal divisions and confrontational rhetoric, stating that such trends endanger not only political aspirations but also the social and psychological fabric of society.

Highlighting the machang as a metaphor for inclusive dialogue, the forum stressed the need to move beyond rigid group loyalties and cultivate cooperation without abandoning historical foundations.
It asserted small acts of reconciliation today could shape the Naga future at a critical “hinge of history” moment.
The FNR’s reflection also underscored the importance of constructive engagement with changing regional and global realities, while maintaining dignity, identity and peaceful relations with neighbours.
