Kohima, Nov. 10 (EMN): Adroit Boyz, Sechű Zubza defended its title to emerge champions of the 5th Zasinihu Memorial Trophy.
The defending champions thrashed Mezoma Students’ Union 8-0 in what turned out to be an extremely one-sided final match.
The four-day long tournament, organised by Western Angami Students’ Union, concluded on November 9 at Wapo ground, Sechű Zubza.
Adroit Boyz made inroads early into the game, and there was no looking back for the champions as they went on to inflict a heavy defeat upon Mezoma Students’ Union.
The champions walked away with a cash prize of INR 40,000 while the runner-up Mezoma Students’ Union received INR 25,000. The losing semi-finalists, Khwűno United and Ferret FC received INR 10,000 each.
The player of the tournament was Kevisalie Sechű; Thejasetuo Gwirie with six goals to his name was the top scorer; and Rajusituo Nagi was adjudged best goalkeeper. All of them were played for Adroit Boyz.
The best midfielder was Neisede Peseyie of Ferret FC, Jotsoma; and best defender was Abraham Khawakhrie of Mezoma Students’ Union.
The closing programme and the final match had Kelevituo Nisa, revenue officer of Kohima, as the guest of honour. Ramietech Solutions and G-sports, Dimapur were the official partners for this year’s edition, it was informed.
The convenor of the organising committee, Neidilhoutuo Sechű expressed gratitude to all the people involved in making the tournament a success.
