Kohima, Jan. 11: The Returning Officer of the Kohima Municipal Council, Lithrongla Tongpi has issued notifications concerning the capital’s municipal polls.
The notification on Wednesday stated that an election was to be held for a member to ward-1: High school, Bayavu, North Block, Naga Bazaar, Kitsubozou, D’Block, Daklane, New Market, Midland, Hospital Colony, PWD Colony, Chandmari Upper Colony, Lower Chandmari, PoterLane-Old Minister Hill, AG, New minister Hill-Lierie-Dairy farm, Agri-Forest-Electrical, Paramedical and PR Hill of the Kohima municipality.
Also, nomination papers may be delivered by the candidate or his proposer to the municipal returning officer / assistant returning officer at deputy commissioner office in Kohima between 11 am and 3 pm on any day (other than public holiday) from January 3 onwards but not later than January 7.
Forms of nomination papers may be obtained at the place and time aforesaid, the notification stated.
Nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny on January 10 at DC Office in Kohima.
Also, notice about the withdrawal of candidature may be delivered by a candidate or his proposer or his Election Agent (who has been authorized in writing by the candidate to deliver it) to the office specified in number-2 above at his or her office latest by January 17 before 3 pm.
In the event of the election being contested, the poll will be taken on February 1, between 7 a.m. to 3: 30 pm, the notice stated.
Meanwhile, in another notification, Returning Officer Lithrongla Tongpi has notified that the model code of conduct for guidance of political parties and candidates of 2004 has come into effect from December 22, 2016 and shall remain in effect till the completion of all election process to the KMC.
The notification added that it will be applicable to all the political parties, candidates and the state government machinery under the KMC areas.
