Dimapur, Jan. 27 (EMN): The Angami Catholic Youth Association of St. Francis de Sales (ACYA, SFS) celebrated its 38th youth day in the campus of Savio KG School on January 27, in Kohima.
Daniel Belho, advisor to the ACYA exhorted the gathering during the occasion. Stating that the history of the Catholic church began with Jesus Christ, Belho urged the youth parishioners to return to the roots of the church and learn more about its history and doctrine.
‘It is fortunate to be Catholics because the faithful recognises and venerate Mother Mary, the mother of Christ with great reverence and respect in spite of many misconceptions by others,’ he said.
Belho also reminded the congregation that in any Catholic church, every parishioner is treated with equal dignity. He advised the parishioners to make use of their time to learn more about Catholic teachings in order to share its beliefs with others.
Stressing on the importance of active involvement in the church, the advisor asked the young believers to contribute their services to their parish.
Referring to the work and different activities of the ACYA, Belho cited an example of how 18,00,255 lakh honey bees can fly miles to produce about 400.50 grams of honey.
Asking the youths to act as a candle that light another candles, Belho called upon them to be the lights of their church.
During the event, Mary Meyase was conferred with the “Youth of the Year Award.” Successful NPSC candidates from the parish, and ACYA members were felicitated with awards for their academic excellence and service to the church.
