Dimapur, November 18
The Naga Hoho has condemned the action of the 15th Assam Rifles wherein four cadres of GPRN/NSCN were brutally killed on November 15 at Leangkoner village under Tuensang district and observed that the actions of the Assam Rifles in Nagaland no better than the terrorist group.
“The so called “accidental encounter“ claimed by the Assam Rifles for violation of Ceasefire Ground Rules ending up with loss of four precious Naga lives will not be applauded nor will be saluted by the Nagas. Nagas wants peace and it is about time, the Assam Rifles display maturity while dealing with the Nagas. Are the Assam Rifles ever ready to deal with the bullet in all the matters relating with the violation of the Ceasefire Ground Rules? The tale of Assam Rifles jawans fired upon while patrolling and in self-defense mode resulting to the death of the Nagas is not new to the Nagas. Maximum restrains from confronting against one another even in the matter of violations is what the Naga people look forward from any of the armed groups or the Indian security forces. The Naga people have observed that the actions of the Assam Rifles in Nagaland is no better than the terrorist group, as their actions towards the Nagas from the beginning till today victimizes the innocent people,” a statement issued by Chitho Nyusou, Secretary (Admn), Naga Hoho said.
The Naga Hoho also expressed deepest condolences to the family members of the slain cadres and prayed that God grants the affected families wisdom and solace.
Meanwhile, the Naga Hoho also vehemently condemned the intention of the Assam Rifles to curb the freedom of expression and to suppress the fourth estate of the society.“While the entire civilized society cutting across nations are against the AFSPA 1958, the notification issued by the Colonel of the General Staff of Assam Rifles on the October 25, directing the editors not to publish any press statement of the banned NSCN (K) in their papers invoking violations of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967, has indeed surprised the Naga people. The Assam Rifles determination to even do away with the Fundamental Rights enshrined under the Constitution of India speaks volumes.”
