KOHIMA — Naga People’s Front (NPF) MLA and Secretary General Achumbemo Kikon raised concern in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly over incidents of racial discrimination faced by people from the Northeast in metro cities.
Speaking during the ongoing budget session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, Kikon referred to the recent incident involving a doctor from Nagaland posted at AIIMS-Gorakhpur who was allegedly subjected to racial slurs, sexually derogatory remarks, stalking and physical molestation.
He urged the House to register its strong resentment over such incidents and said a serious expression of the Assembly should be conveyed to mainland India that discrimination against people from the region cannot be tolerated.
