Dimapur, July 15 (EMN): Governor of Manipur P B Acharya on Monday distributed library books to Sainik School, Pangei and Kalyan Ashram in Imphal east.
He also announced that more library books will be provided to government schools, an update from Raj Bhavan Imphal informed.
Acharya said this during the computer workshop organised for students and teachers by Upanagar Shikshan Mandal and sponsored by Saraswat Bank of Mumbai in collaboration with Directorate of Education (Schools), Manipur at Raj Bhavan, Banquet Hall.
He also handed over the certificates to the participants of the 3-day computer workshop.
The governor has been taking up many initiatives in different fields for the welfare of the Northeast people. Under his guidance several exchange programmes such as teachers-students programme, IT training programmes, toilet movement, library project, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao were organised. He also initiated free and concessional admission in various courses for the students.
After assuming the additional charge as Mnaipur governor on June 27, Acharya took an initiative to sponsor water storage tanks to the deserving people.
Dr. Th. Dhabali Singh, chairman and managing director of Babina Group of Companies has sponsorrd 38 storage tanks of 1000 liters each and other 27 water tanks.
Five water tanks were distributed to the beneficiaries at a programme on Monday in Imphal.
