DIMAPUR — Following the alleged rape of a woman at Ngwalwa village in Peren district, the Additional SP of Peren Police, RT Chang, confirmed on Saturday that an FIR has been filed by the victim’s family at the Jalukie police station.
The crime was allegedly committed on September 8, and the family of the victim filed the FIR on September 17.
Chang told Eastern Mirror that the accused has been arrested and is in judicial custody. The additional SP also informed that the investigation is underway and that no further details could be provided until the investigation is completed.
The victim is currently being treated at a health facility in Chümoukedima and is said to be stable.

Meanwhile, the Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) condemned the ‘heinous act’ that took place in Peren.
In a condemnation note, it said that the details of the horrific incident are not only deeply disturbing but an affront to the values and laws of the land.
“It is imperative that justice be swift and resolute in this case to send a clear message that such acts of barbarism will not be tolerated and the perpetrator be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” it read, and urged that the law enforcement agencies take appropriate and befitting action at the earliest.
Also, the NSCW has condemned the alleged molestation of minor students by a school headmaster in Tuensang.
The chairperson of NSCW stated that the increasing crimes against women and children in the state are deeply concerning and alarming.
She said that every right-thinking citizen should condemn such inhumane crimes committed against the vulnerable, and they should be dealt with in a serious manner so that no similar incident arises in the future.
