DIMAPUR — Maintaining that the department of Treasuries and Accounts is the main organ of the state government as it administers and enforces the financial rules and regulations, Principal Director of Treasuries and Accounts, RN Yanthan, on Friday urged the officers to play a proactive role in upholding fiscal discipline in the directorates, district treasuries, sub treasuries and in the audits of all the departments and other institutions.
He was speaking during the inaugural programme of the 16th general conference of Nagaland Finance and Accounts Service Association (NFASA) at the Directorate of Treasuries and Accounts Conference hall, according to an update from DIPR.
He stressed the urgent need to address the civil deposit system and the accounting management to ensure that there is no double entry on expenditures accounting head and to maintain ‘proper record documentation from the office of Accountant General while dealing with service book, pay slip and pension of the state government employees.’
The principal director said that the association’s annual gathering “will be a celebration of our collective achievement of our service matter and also in the Department activities by upholding fiscal discipline”.
NFASA president, Vechiso Chakhesang, paid tribute to the pioneers and senior officers for their contributions since the association was established in 1978.
Updating that the association has 207 members today, Vechiso requested the authorities in the Finance department and the Directorate to conduct comprehensive training programmes for the members from time to time in order to train them in various topics and be updated about the new system.
The programme was chaired by the association vice president, T Khekaho Aye, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Director of Treasuries and Accounts, Vahine Thisa.
