Dimapur, April 11 (EMN): ACAUT Nagaland has warned the goods transporters of police action under relevant sections of the law in the event they entertain the Naga Political Group (NPGs) in the matter of tax.
ACAUT claimed to have knowledge in which transporters were approached by some of the factions to deduct tax at source.
‘Since wholesalers of footwear items have expressed their inability to give tax to the faction on account of the ACAUT, the cadres have aligned themselves with the ‘baadmashi transporters’ whereby every carton or crate of footwear will be taxed Rs 150 at the transport godowns itself failing which the goods will not be released,’ ACAUT alleged. Under such circumstances, it said every goods transporter have become anti-social elements, criminals and extortionists.
ACAUT reminded the factions that due to the burden of taxation in Nagaland, business houses have migrated to Lahorijan and Khatkhati whereby these destinations have grown to rival Dimapur. Further, it requested the Dimapur police to watch out for the activities of the transporters.
