ACAUT has urged the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) to respond to the demand of the Graduate Electrical Engineers Association of Nagaland (GEEAN) to provide answer keys for its Combined Technical Examination, saying the demand is logical as NPSC has been already providing answer keys for its premier civil services exam. It also reminded the NPSC that even UPSC provides answer keys for its Indian Engineering Services (IES) exam.
A statement issued by Media Cell, ACAUT Nagaland asked the NPSC to be even more transparent than the church.
“This statutory body, the backbone of bureaucracy and governance itself, should be the most impartial, neutral, professional and depoliticized body in the state.”
Maintaining that when decision was taken by the body to provide answer keys for Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) as formatted for NCS/NPS and allied exam, ACAUT said it had welcomed the move and opined that GEEAN’s demand is also valid as based on precedence.
“The GEEAN genuinely fears that deserving students shall be deprived of jobs unless answer keys are published in the papers after the exam, thanks to precedence of machinations and corruption in NPSC.”
“Unless this demand of GEEAN is adhered to, the ACAUT can only conclude that there may be malafide intention by NPSC to deprive genuine and deserving candidates at the cost of meritocracy. On a positive note, NPSC is in pole position to build a meritocratic society notwithstanding allegations of bribery and favouritism cast upon its esteemed membersa few years back.”
The ACAUT said this is another soul-searching moment for NPSC and its response to GEEAN demand, positively or negatively, will be the answer to the question about the integrity of its members.
