Dimpur, August 18 (EMN): The anti graft body ACAUT has today announced that it will organise as rally, touted to be the "mother of all rallies" against corruption in governance on August 25 at Dimapur in the Super Market area.
"Given the sad state of affairs, the general corruption and the decay in governance leading to widespread resentment from every quarters, including teachers, students, and the common man, the ACAUT Nagaland is contemplating hosting the largest ever gathering of outraged and concerned citizens in living memory-a public rally on the 25th of August, 2017, 3:30 pm, Dimapur, Super Market Area," stated the press release from the body.
The media cell of ACAUT also stated that the "scourge of corruption" has shamed everyone and the "silent majority" cannot afford to be silent anymore.
"What Nagaland needs now is for the silent majority to leave aside their petty differences and stand united in the idea that in the end we are all NAGAS, and show to the world that we can break down the mighty wall of corruption created by greed and selfish politics.
The ACAUT calls for every Naga from every creed, denomination, clan and tribe to come out in the streets to make this rally the ‘mother of all rallies.’
And send a strong message that enough is enough, that there is an alternative and better way to live as a society".
The ACAUT also stated that the public should to stop complaining from the "comfort zone" of their homes and appealed to the " lakhs of social media bloggers" to attend the rally and voice their protests at "the pathetic road conditions" and the widespread corruption which has "robbed the Nagas" of dignity as a race in the eyes of the world.
It also stated that the Nagas are left with no dignity and in the eyes of fellow Indians and fellow Christians in India and abroad and Nagas are described as "scoundrels" where "money has become their idol and corruption their religion".
In order for such narrative to end, it appealed all the tribal bodies and organisations to stand in solidarity with the ACAUT and support the rally.
"The ACAUT appeals to all the tribal HoHos, youth organizations, student unions, and the Chamber of Commerce in all the districts of Nagaland to send thousands of people for the rally"
It added that anything less than 50,000 people in the rally would be "disappointing".
It also made an appeal to all the churches in the state to accept that corruption has "shackled all in poverty, underdevelopment, and backwardness" making the battle against it a spiritual one too.
It requested all the churches to "pray" on Sunday August 20 "for the success of the rally".
It also made an open invitation to anyone from the far flung areas in the state who would want to share the their stories of how corruption have affected them to contact ACAUT on their phone number-7005070868.
