The ACAUT Nagaland has categorically denied the allegation that it is ‘anti-national’ or is collaborating with the ‘occupational forces’ and carrying any kind of weapons, saying such ‘unsubstantiated’ allegation is bereft of truth.
“It is a firm belief of ACAUT Nagaland that as God is the witness, the people of Nagaland and history will stand as a testament to that.”
The ACAUT in a statement questioned as to what pro-national is if questioning the logic behind factionalism and voicing the concerns of thousands of Nagas is anti-national.
The statement mentioned that ACAUT had turned down the request of Shambu Singh (home secretary) for private meeting as it had no business to meddle in the affairs of government of India and the Naga political groups.
The ACAUT however said, as people’s movement, it cannot condone the endangerment put to the lives of innocent civilians by firing in populated areas and creating fear psychosis against the will of the people.
The Naga public, still psychologically scarred and traumatized by the brutalities of pre-ceasefire years, are yearning for peace and normalcy, the statement said.
“Apart from the fighting against menace of rampant corruption that has crippled our state, the disease of factionalism is of great concern to ACAUT Nagaland as it is against the aspiration of all Nagas and a stumbling block toward finding a lasting solution for Naga political movement for which unification of all factions is a must.”
The ACAUT further said that the greatest dilemma and confusion today about Naga political impasse is because of the fact that there are 9 different Naga political groups claiming sovereignty that lies with the people.
“If at all the constant rhetoric by all the NPGs that sovereignty lies with the people is indeed true, then they must put this in practice as well. This cancerous factionalism has prompted ACAUT with the clarion call of “One government one tax”.
Therefore ACAUT Nagaland addresses to the moral imagination of all NPGs to sincerely work towards unity at the earliest and not try and misled the people citing nationalism.”
