Dimapur, August 5
Rubbishing what it called vitriolic accusation that it treated ACAUT secretary Solomon L Awomi inhumanly violating basic human rights, the GPRN/NSCN clarified that members of the Naga Army treated him with respect and understanding during his detention despite the seriousness of the allegations against him.
“It is a universal practice that detainees, irrespective of their status and positions, experience untold physical and mental agony during interrogations and questioning, yet there was not even a nudge or a push on Solomon L Awomi and so the question of GPRN/NSCN inflicting physical harm does not arise,” the MIP, GPRN/NSCN, said in a release today.
The release said the GPRN/NSCN during the course of interaction learnt that ACAUT leaders have used Solomon for their own benefit. To substantiate its point, the GPRN/NSCN said it is a fact that in Solomon’s absence, they (ACAUT leaders) met, drafted a historic anti-Naga document, forged his signature and distributed. “This was so-called ACAUT Nagaland’s activity which GPRN/NSCN de-recognised,” the release stated and added that they intended to crucify Solomon for their ‘own cowardice’ but GPRN/NSCN does not act in haste because it values human life.
Also, maintaining that a derecognised committee cannot declare any statement ‘null and void’, the release affirmed that the statement jointly issued by GPRN/NSCN Kilo Secretary and Solomon on the evening of August 1 stands firm.
It said the bond agreement signed by Solomon and GPRN/NSCN in presence of village elders of Purana Bazar, Padumpukhri and Naharbari and the media prior to his release on August 2 is a reminder that GPRN/NSCN strongly believes in traditional institutions protected by elderly wisdom.
It further said the ACAUT is a discarded committee and has absolutely no right to question or protest what GPRN/NSCN and Solomon agreed and signed in presence of village councils of Purana Bazar, Naharbari and Padumpukhri and Naga Women Hoho Dimapur.
The GPRN/NSCN also stated that it is most “un-intellectual” and “unfortunate” that some learned and experienced Nagas have chosen to invest their time and energy in believing a two-year- old committee called ACAUT, consisting mostly of business members eager to monopolize trade and commerce in Dimapur, could force the Naga political groups down to their knees and finish the Naga National Movement.
The GPRN/NSCN sought to point out that this statement is not a response to a de-recognised committee but to reaffirm the truth with honesty and integrity.
The GPRN/NSCN under the leadership of Gen. (Retd) Kholi Konyak and N. Kitovi Zhimomi also informed the Naga people that ACAUT was promptly de-recognised on August 30 because the history of the Naga people, their political struggle and hope for common future was interpreted through the whims and fancies of ACAUT leaders, which was to stop the Naga people from contributing towards the national movement.
Stating that the ACAUT leaders continue to mock and insult Naga political movement which the patriotic blood and tears of the Nagas, past and present, had protected and defended, the GPRN/NSCN said any activity that does not conform to history and reasoning will fail.
