Dimapur, Dec. 2 (EMN): The Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (Acaut) has demanded the department of Higher and Technical Education (DHTE) in the state to advertise all the vacant posts of assistant professors failing which, it warned, the department will be liable for lawsuit.
The Acaut has said in a statement that in the Advertisement No NPSC-3/2019 published on November 13 this year, only 63 out of 68 posts created for the year 2018-19 were advertised and five posts have been withheld by DHTE.
Stating that “the 42 post created for the year 2019-20 has not yet been advertised”, the Acaut has demanded that ‘the remaining 47 posts are advertised along with about 50 sanctioned posts being occupied by the contract appointees and a total of about 97 post are advertised for all qualified Nagas to compete for excellent and meritocracy, without further delay.’
“Any stop-gap arrangements without public advertisements are illegal as per the law,” it stated, adding that the NPSC should go ahead with the original advertisement without any changes “after fulfilling the compliance of disability reservation for which the Common Educational Services Examination, 2019 is ‘on hold’.”
The Acaut also stated that ‘the Civil Engineer Association Nagaland’s (CEAN) ultimatum backed by Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) is fully justified for demanding the termination of 30 SOs grade II, 7 draftsmans and 7 surveyors.’ Pointing out that November 23, 2019 advertisement for “9 SOs Grade II are only for the existing vacancies devoid of the 30 such post filled via backdoor”, it has demanded the department to immediately issue another advertisement, failing which, it said, will take legal course of action.
The Acaut’s statement came after the Chief Secretary issued a notice on November 28 2019 informing about the Gauhati High Court’s “directive for compiling of the list of contractual employees must be an exercise in consonant with law laid down.”
