DIMAPUR — Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) has extended its unwavering support to the legitimate demands of the RMSA teachers, who are currently staging agitating for regularisation of their services and implementation of appropriate pay scales.

“Since 2016, the government has engaged these teachers on a contractual basis. However, their services have not been regularised to date and they continue to receive a fixed salary, which stands in violation of labor laws.

“While their services have been utilised by the government, they have not been granted their rightful entitlements; amounting to nothing less than exploitation,” the statement read.

It stated that those teachers have consistently fulfilled their duties with dedication, thereby significantly contributing to the academic success of students over the past decade. It asserted that their demand for regularisation was justified and long overdue.

“The government must not disregard or trivialise their concerns, especially in light of the Chief Minister’s own admission regarding a shortage of teaching staff in government schools. The RMSA teachers are well-qualified and fully capable of becoming permanent members of the education system, ACAUT added.

It was of the opinion that when a government fails to address the genuine grievances of its people, it must accept moral responsibility and consider stepping aside to allow others who are more responsive to public welfare.

“It is imperative that the current government does not remain silent or indifferent to the voices and suffering of the RMSA teachers. Justice delayed is justice denied. These teachers have waited patiently for years, hoping the government would act in due time. However, this prolonged delay has only deepened their frustration. When patience wears thin, the consequences may become difficult to contain and by then, it may be too late,” the statement added.

ACAUT has strongly urged the state government to address the RMSA teachers’ grievances without further delay and work toward a permanent resolution.
