Dimapur, July 8 (EMN): The Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (Acaut) today listed out a slew of measures for the improvement of the local farmers and local markets in the state.
An open letter by Acaut to the chief minister appended by Acaut Co-chairman, Simon Kelio and Secretary Hetoi Chishi, appealed the chief minister “to intervene, assist and facilitate Market avenues for farmers from districts of Nagaland to sell their surplus produce in Dimapur the Commercial city of Nagaland”.
In this regard, the Acaut suggested the setting up of ‘Sabzi Mandis in Dimapur town’ and ‘to setup up markets at designated areas for local farmers’.
It also suggested the state government ‘to identify surplus produces from various districts and ban import of such products from outside till the time these products get exhausted”.
It also suggested the imposition of “strict measures to curb illegal taxation by various agencies” and “to setup committees comprising of the police, the District administration, various associations and unions to look into and supervise the whole exercise”.
