Dimapur, April 30
The Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Nagaland has strongly supported the “non-cooperation” resolution of the Angami Youth Organization against the armed group NSCN-K and has appealed to the Nagas of Kohima to impose similar “non-cooperation” on other underground factions as well.
“Any sort of compliance with the tax demands, irrespective of A, B, C, D factions will only serve their greed and nothing else,” stated the media cell of the ACAUT.Lauding the initiative of all 19 wards and colonies in Kohima town to fight anti-social activities in unity, the ACAUT said such united effort would send out a strong message to the factions, particularly NSCN-K, that the Naga public will not be cowed down anymore. The organization lauded the move of the community to fight united against the backdrop of the spate of bombings and firings in civilian populated areas of the capital town.
ACAUT also lauded the deputy commissioner of Kohima for his ‘commendable job’ in mobilizing citizens to keep vigil and initiate community policing. The ACAUT hoped the deputy commissioners in other districts would replicate similar measures.
The organization also termed the firing incidents and attack on Assam Rifles personnel in Kohima town on March 26 and April 25 as ‘uncalled for’.
UGs violence on SF to trigger violence against civilians
Citing the April 25 shooting where one Assam Rifles trooper was killed, as admitted by the NSCN-K, the ACAUT said it was a ‘sinister design’ to provoke unbridled reaction from the paramilitary forces against own Naga civilian population.
“For an organization professing sovereignty for the Naga people, such an abomination has never been heard of and Naga people should not forget this treachery.
What kind of organization is the NSCN-K that it would have no qualms about using innocent Naga civilians as baits for its selfish interest? It is the stand and belief of the Naga people that all the Naga political groups must come together to give a united and concerted effort to the decades old Naga political issue through dialogue and bring a lasting solution.”
Stating that in the era of heightened consciousness there is no room for violence, the ACAUT referred to the recent Scottish referendum and said nationalism should not entail sentencing people to undue hardships on account of conflict.
