DIMAPUR — The Above Thirtyfive League kicked off its 10th season at the Chümoukedima Police Ground on February 14, with eight teams set to compete over 14 weeks for the title.
In one of the opening matches at DGP Ground, league champions Nizams FC registered a 3–2 victory over new entrants Nova Old Stars in a closely contested game, according to a press release issued on Monday.
The opening programme was attended by special guest Kvulo Lorin, chairman of the Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation, who spoke on the importance of fitness and the platform the league provides for staying connected with the game and meeting people. He also recalled having once been part of the league as a player.
Led by Lanusubu, the programme began with a prayer by Thepfulhouvi (Asa). Convenor ATL Nchum delivered the welcome address, welcoming the new team Nova Old Stars and the other players back to the league. Rovikotuo, Advisor ATL, highlighted the beginnings of the league, and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Himato.

In the other opening fixtures, Aben of Strikers Club scored six goals in a 7–2 win over Old Boys at 1st NAP Ground. In the second match at the same venue, Super Strikers defeated Nizams Legends 1–0 through a counter attack goal by Temjen. Trinity Sporting also secured a win against Natak FC with a brace from Toshi.
