DIMAPUR — Civil society organisations of Aboi area have raised objections to what they described as a selective survey for the proposed NH-702 (Mon–Aboi–Longleng) alignment, alleging that the team had carried out work only on Option-01 while bypassing two other alignments previously endorsed in multiple meetings.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Aboi unit of Konyak Union said the survey conducted on November 4 did not include Option-02 and Option-03, despite these having received support from more than one hundred villages and major towns in Mon district.

“The preference for Option-03 alignment was not arbitrary but was deliberated, discussed, and finalised through multiple high-level meetings,” it stated.

These include a meeting on February 24, 2019, attended by the apex Konyak Union, administrative officers and all elected MLAs of Mon district; a meeting of all nine incumbent MLAs on August 13, 2025; and a meeting chaired by the deputy chief minister (NH) on August 28, 2025, in Kohima, where a “win-win” resolution was reportedly reached to endorse Option-03.

Calling the latest survey a departure from these decisions, the Aboi representatives said the action had caused concern in the area and could lead to unrest if not addressed. They stated that people in the area were united in opposing any attempt to change the alignment agreed upon earlier.

“Should this injustice persist, the public will be compelled to initiate non-cooperation and possible economic blockade along the existing route as a mark of protest,” the statement read.

The groups have asked the deputy chief minister (NH) to direct the department concerned to conduct surveys for Option-02 and Option-03 within seven days, uphold the earlier resolutions and avoid further unilateral steps.
