[dropcap]A[/dropcap]T the banks of the mighty river Brahmaputra in Guwahati, on a hot sunny afternoon, loud music suddenly erupted accompanied by loud roars from youngsters. Ascending from the river bank to the hill top was the epicenter of the sound; it was Abiogenesis, the folk fusion band from Nagaland performing with the perfect opening song The Riverside from their album A Slice of Heaven. On the occasion of Down Town University’s annual fresher’s day on 6th September 2014, Abiogenesis was there to celebrate and make it a merry gala event. The students along with the faculty and VIP invitees sung along with the band on top of their lungs especially in the choruses where Naga chants like Howey were sung and war cries belted out. The band with Arenla on Vocals/Bamhum, Kora on Bass, Moa on Guitar/Bamhum/Harmonica and Aso on Drums performed for exactly an hour from 3 to 4 pm and played songs from their 4 albums which made the audience go frenzy and demanded for more when the show ended. The down town Charity Trust was formed in 1997 by the down town hospital ltd. The trust set out to start one of the largest and integrated educational campuses in the region, which will be able to provide a variety of professional programs, at a reasonable fee structure.
