- KOHIMA — With an
aim and purpose to renew church and focus on church revitalisation, a two-day
‘Krodi Kehou’ (convention) of the Angami Baptist Church Council (ABCC) began on
Saturday at Kohima local ground on the theme "The church of Christ: arise,
shine.”
- The speakers of the two-day programme would be Rev. Ashok
Andrews, pastor of Kolkata Bible Church, and Rev. Rachülie Vihienuo, ABCC
executive director. They would speak on the themes "The church of Christ:
prepare for renewal," "The church of Christ: renewed to endure,"
"The church of Christ: renewed to impact," and “The church of Christ:
arise, shine!"
- The speaker of the Saturday morning service, Rev. Vihienuo,
shared sermon on the theme "The church of Christ: prepare for renewal.” He
expressed that the ABCC convention, which is held once in every five years, is
meaningful as all the different churches get to meet each other and praise God
together. He also believed that the organisation is strengthened through the
convention.
- He stated that it has been 140 years since the ABCC came to
know about Christ with 111 churches and 45,000 baptised members. He expressed
that a church would be judged by the quality of its members in living their
lives on Christian principles.
- During the programme, the welcome address was delivered by
Rev. Kevichalie Metha, convenor of Krodi Kehou.
- Highlights of the programme included a song presentation by
students of Baptist High, Kohima; mass prayer led by Rev. Kevisikho Sokra,
convenor of prayer committee, Krodi Kehou; solo performance by Visenuo Rio,
assistant professor of music at Patkai Christian College; and Bible reading by
Kobanuo Rutsa from Angami Baptist Church, Razhüphe.
- Earlier in the morning, the ABCC flag was hoisted by Rev.
Rachülie Vihienuo, after the invocation prayer said by Rev. Vilodi Sakhrie,
vice president of ABCC. A song was presented by the Khedi Baptist Church choir.
- Thousands of church leaders from 111 churches under ABCC
attended the morning service. Today's program was open to the church leaders
from all the churches under ABCC.
- On January 19, about 8000 church members from all the 111
churches under ABCC are expected to attend the programme.
