Dimapur, July 7: Youth wing of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Dimapur unit, under the leadership of its president, Akashe Naga, visited the Dimapur Civil Hospital and distributed tea, biscuits to the nurses, doctors and to patients.
The eatables were distributed out of the contributions made by the members as per the principle of the party. The patients were surprised to see such initiatives taken by a political party by visiting hospital by distributing eatables besides interacting with more than 300 people from all walks of life.
Many patients acknowledged the initiative of the AAP district youth wing as first of its kind in Nagaland undertaken by a political party in building relationship with common people. One relative of a patient was quoted saying that such benevolent gesture could give a ray of hope towards the well being of the society.
The team visited twice to all the cabins, wards and had quality interactions and interviewed with all the patients.
Few concerns shared by the patients and families about District Hospital Dimapur included poor infrastructure and pathetic maintenances of the old building. They felt that the old building should not be neglected since monsoon is the peak of getting patients. They further expressed concern over broken window panes, poor hygiene, and roof leakages.
The patience shared their experiences in other Government Hospitals outside of Nagaland and the facilities availed to patients. They expected at least 50% of the facilities by providing bed sheets, pillows with pillow cover to cabins and wards. They also shared that they have no idea of any free medicines or other items being given away.
Patients complained that doctors were seen once only in the morning between 9-10 a.m.
Taking into consideration of the prevailing situation, AAP requested the hospital authority to activate the system and help the poor marginalized needy people of Nagaland. Meanwhile, the team thanked each individual, hospital administrations, nurses etc for cooperating during their visits to hospitals.
