Dimapur, Nov. 11 (EMN): In the backdrop of the Dimapur police’s arrest of criminals indulging in production of fake Aadhaar cards, the Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has questioned the state government whether it would accept “fresh” applications for Aadhaar allegedly made “by using fictitious documents that had been issued mostly to many suspected illegal immigrants from the neighbouring state of Assam”.
A press statement from the CNTC on Saturday stated that the ‘Aadhaar cards seized from these illegal racket centres should be annulled and invalidated’, and also examine thoroughly all Aadhaar cards approved from the state. “We would want to see the chief minister and the home minister do their part as the police have been doing their part with the best of their ability.
“Coordinated efforts should come from all sections as both of them had said accordingly. Both the chief minister and the home minister should also coordinate with their counterparts of Assam otherwise lakhs of illegal immigrants will be legalized and claim to be a citizen of India from these fake Aadhaars of made in Nagaland state.
“CNTC also has appealed to all colony GBs, chairmen and respective councils to be vigilant and watchful of these activities in their localities and inform the police to take punitive action on these miscreants involved in such illegal activities,” it stated.
