Dimapur, October 16 : The All Nagaland Aggrieved Hindi Teachers’ Association (ANAHTA) has finally decided that enough’s enough: the association has declared boycott of classes now that the government of Nagaland had failed to address the teachers’ demand to release their salary that had been pending for about a year now.
The association issued a press release on Sunday declaring that the agitation scheduled to commence from October 17.
The association lamented that they had been working though out the entire without salary. Their pending dues were stated to be from the month of March till date.
The association stated that it was not willing to accept a month’s salary ‘as piecemeal payment to temporarily appease our sufferings.’
“The same practice has been going on ever since our appointment at the cost of the suffering of the helpless teachers, therefore the teachers reaffirmed to boycott classes from 17th October as published earlier on account of no work no pay. all the teachers are requested to follow the same till further notice,” the press release from the organization stated.
The association has convened an emergency meeting of all the group[‘s district representatives “to reshuffle the leadership and to discuss various matters related to our grievances.”
The ANHTU’s central representatives and executive members besides the members are requested to attend said meeting, which has been scheduled for October 19. The meeting is set to commence from 1:00 pm in the residence of the organization’s treasure at upper Chandmari in Kohima town.
The organization has urged headmasters and teachers in-charge of both government and private schools to bear with the inconvenience that may be caused.
