Dimapur, September 12
Every vegetable has its day. In this case, it’s the ‘Raja Mircha’ that is being honored with a song. A musician called Senti Longchar, a winner of a local indigenous talent hunt, has a song called ‘King Chili.’ The song is said to have been produced by a local music portal Indihut. Longchar’s muse has been released and has been made available for download “worldwide” (!) on indihut.com, said a Vanity press handout from the promoters on Saturday, September 12.According to the handout, Longchar AKA “DesertKing” raps and sings in different Naga dialects and ‘Nagamese.’ He sings about the “important features and information about the king chili which he composed specifically targeting the farming community,” the handout stated.
Senti Longchar was born in Waromung Village under Mokokchung district. His musical background as he puts it is “simply natural” and self taught. Professionally, he is a Plant Pathologist and presently working as a horticulture officer. He holds a Master’s Degree in Plant Pathology and is an academic gold medalist from Nagaland University, School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development. He was pursuing his Ph.D program on “Bio-Control of Stem Rot of Soyabean” from the same university but his interest turned out to be different. DK continued his research and studies on Naga King Chili (Raja Mircha) for about 8 (eight) years travelling and interacting with the farmers from remote of the remotest parts of the state, the handout stated.
