It’s a new cafe—music-themed at that—with a goal to providing musicians a platform.
A young entrepreneur Mele Pucho has opened a new branch of Symphony Café in Kohima at the Kire Complex at the TCP gate in Kohima town on Sat. The cafe was inaugurated by musicians Theja Meru, Mengu Suokhrie, Virie, Bendang, and Sanen Kichu.
Pucho said that the new cafe would be open for musicians to perform for free. He said it took more than ten years to accomplish his dream to open a café for musicians. Asserting that musicians over the past five years have been ‘struggling,’ Pucho said that the Naga people were a talented lot ‘but with less scope.’ To ‘contribute,’ he started the café to encourage the artists not to ‘give up.’ Dedicating the cafe to musicians, he hoped that they would make good use of the place and grow.
In his short speech, entrepreneur and veteran singer Theja Meru expressed hope that the platform would inspire the musicians.
Musicians from Kohima came together to attend the inauguration. Some of the local singers performed during the program too.
The café will be open from 11 am to 7 pm from Mon. to Sat.
Besides being an event producer, Mele Pucho is the director of Symphony Academy of Music. He is a musician and a worship leader.
