Using newspapers to wrap, store and distribute food appears to be a fawning obedience to the principle of 3 INR, and one may feel a worthy champion. However, the FSSAI has issued warnings against using newspapers for the same, expressing concerns about food borne illnesses associated with paper ink. The ink used in newspapers contains bioactive materials with known negative health effects, which can contaminate food and lead to health issues when ingested.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Food vendors should use suitable packaging material that is health and environment friendly. Packaging material like paper, food wraps, aluminum foil and plant leaves should be explored. There is a greater need to spread this awareness.
